‘Liverpool fans moaned to me about Klopp’, reveals Exeter player

first_imgExeter City striker Clinton Morrison has revealed Liverpool fans told him about their fury at Jurgen Klopp’s team selection at half-time on Friday night. The two teams drew 2-2 in the FA Cup third round as the German manager fielded an inexperienced team at St James’ Park, with the minnows leading for much of the second half. And former Premier League striker Morrison warned Klopp Reds supporters will not accept a similar selection or performance in the replay on Merseyside. He told the Sports Bar: “I don’t think, when we play them at Anfield, he will change the team as much. I think you will see five or six first-teamers back. Jurgen Klopp knows the Liverpool fans won’t accept [a similar performance at home].“When I was warming up at half-time one of the Liverpool fans shouted out, ‘Oi, Clinton. Tell that Klopp to sort it out. We didn’t come all this way to see this.’“I know for a fact there were some disgruntled people there who were disappointed in the team he picked.”But Morrison admitted, while the Grecians were buoyed when they saw Liverpool’s line up, that some of the Reds youngsters proved they have what it takes to become stars. He added: “We thought they were there for the taking but they still had a lot of quality. The left-back Brad Smith is a terrific talent. He’s one for the future, and the right-back [Randall] too. I thought they were both very good.“I still think they had enough quality on the pitch to cause us problems but I just thought we were the better team and we’re slightly disappointed we’re not through.”last_img read more
